What is a Lockable Ball Valve?

Lockable ball valves are designed with an integrated locking handle to prevent unauthorized or accidental operation. Common in safety-sensitive environments, these valves:

  • Feature handles that can be secured in either the open or closed position
  • Ensure operational control and prevent unintended flow changes
  • Protect personnel during maintenance and servicing
  • Support compliance with OSHA lockout/tagout requirements

Whether you need to isolate a system for maintenance or protect against unintended flow changes, lockable ball valves offer simple, mechanical peace of mind.

How Locking Mechanisms Work

Each Gemini lockable valve features a latching lever handle with a built-in tab for padlocking. The handle can be secured in either the open or closed position using a standard padlock (not included). This physical lock prevents handle movement, reinforcing both operational safety and regulatory compliance.

These compact safety solutions provide reliable control in critical applications — no electricity, sensors or software required.

Manual Lockable Ball Valves

All of our lockable valves are manually operated using latching lever handles. These valves are ideal for straightforward on/off applications where secure positioning is critical. They’re often used in facilities that require routine service intervals, media control or isolation procedures.

Gemini lockable ball valves are available in a range of body materials, such as brass and carbon steel, and feature National Pipe Taper (NPT) female connections.
